The Fair
The Bridgewater fair has always been a fascinating colorful event for me. Growing up in Brookfield CT just across the bridge was a fair. So exciting as a child and it was close by. My mom would walk me through the hobby tents and explain the details of each entry. Now I live in Bridgewater and it’s just as exciting. The firemen setting up the tents, then the rides arrive and the color begins. Throughout the year I plant from seed or bulb, flowers to grow the best specimens for the flower exhibit. Each day from April till August I nurture my plants trying to figure out what will make the fair. This particular year I had so many beautiful flowers I entered them all and I won. I won so many blue ribbons I received the Chet Boyd award. I harkened back to that year as COVID hit in March and wondered if there would be a fair this year. My flowers flourished with big colorful blooms like never before. But no fair. So I brought vases every other day to town hall to enjoy them at work. It’s just not fair there was no fair.
